Outdoor writers meet, greet, and kick tires.

Captain Ron Presley tests the Silverado Truck.

Part of the fun at the Florida Outdoor Writers conference is seeing new products. This year was special. We did not just “test drive” Chevrolet trucks; we towed with them too. Our test boat was none other than a Hells Bay, flats boat.

The Silverado is a fine mix of comfort and power. The standard 4.3-liter V6 engine tows up to 6,400 pounds. That would be nearly three of my boats!

Do you need more power? There are a 5.3 and a 6.2-liter V8 EcoTech3 engines from which to choose. I bet that 6.2 would tow a yacht.

Chevrolet also sponsored meals and several excellence in craft awards at the conference. It is obvious they are serious about the needs of the outdoorsman.
