It is not every day that Mark Sosin strolls up to your table and begins teasing you. Such is life during the FOWA conference. However, the list of sage characters is long. Tommy Thompson, Ron Presley, Sam Heaton, Paul Michele, Ray Markham, Tom Van Horn, Steve Chapman, Van Hubbard, and many more friends are here.
This year’s conference is extra special because Titusville is the host city. The welcoming banquet at Sand Point Park brought back a flood of memories. The park was the site of our wedding 23-years ago. Swallowing the lump in my throat, I watched manatees play just feet from where we took our vows.
Dixie Crossroads catered the event with a massive buffet of barbeque and a shrimp boil for good measure. Visiting with old friends was a welcome dessert.
Breakout followed the next day. This event allows the CVB’s and manufacturers to show their wares and locations to the writers on hand. The visits are short but enjoyed by everyone. Sam Heaton was demonstrating the I Pilot, Minn-Kota trolling motor. This system is truly amazing.
The evening found us at Dixie Crossroads (We cannot get enough.) for more of their famous rock shrimp and fellowship.
Today offered us several choices of various outdoor activities. Many opted to fish or kayak on the Indian River. One of us stayed behind to answer e-mail and to write their blog.
