Elmore County hosts the country’s best crappie anglers.

The Crappiemasters Alabama Championship took place here on the Alabama River. We enjoyed a wonderful week of fishing and fellowship. Crappie anglers are a happy lot as a whole.

The fishing was challenging for some anglers. The dams seemed to constantly open and close. The waters were in constant flux. Fortunately, the dam activity slowed during the two, tournament days.

Outdoor writers; Don Gasaway, Clay Richardson, Tim Huffman, Frank Sergeant and Crappie.com’s Ed Moes were on hand. We graciously thank them for coming down.

The Road Runner and B’ n M Pole Teams did quite well!

First place- Kyle Schoenherr and Rodney Neuhaus won $4000.00.

Third place- Gilford and Shannon Sipes won $1000.00.

Fifth place- Ronnie Capps and Steve Coleman took home $700.00.

Tenth place- Matt Morgan and Kent Watson took home $300.00. Congratulations to our super teams!

A huge event like this takes a lot of work. For example, Anglers for Kids provided their huge fish recovery system. Only seven fish were lost during our unusually hot weather. Great job!

Our friends at the Alabama Wildlife Federation at Lanark hosted the media weigh-in and the children’s fishing event. Thank you so much.

The city of Millbrook provided a wonderful lunch and their conference center for the seminar.

Thanks also go out to our friends at Elmore County. This wouldn’t have been possible without them.

Most importantly…Thank you anglers!

Blessings, -TJ
