Home of BIG Crappie

AL Champions; Kent Watson and Matt Morgan at the AWF weigh-in.

Crappiemasters tournament trail returns to the home of BIG Crappie.

Rolling over in bed last night; I could hear the heavy rain pounding the roof. The timing couldn’t be better. The NOAA Hydrological Center, predicts the Alabama River will return to 23-feet by Tuesday. Next week’s Crappiemasters, Alabama Championship begins two days later.

I’m excited to see so many friends come back to my home waters. Wally Marshall (AKA: Mr. Crappie) will arrive early next week. Our plan is to jump in the boat and do some scouting. I’ll shoot photos and videotape some fishing tips while we ply the waters.

Last year’s winners Matt Morgan and Kent Watson can’t wait to defend their championship. Their two day total was a record 31.69 pounds with 14 fish. That’s not all they carried home last year; they won the National Championship too. We’re humbled by their faith in Road Runner Lures.

The Sipes Team will sport an updated, Road Runner boat wrap at their home waters too. With a seventh place finish last year, they really want a win.

Bill Braswell has been competing solo for over a year. He’s stepping up his game with a new fishing partner this season. Dan Dannenmueller of Millbrook, AL has joined him on the trail. Fishing Road Runner heads with Gary Yamamoto plastics will be their go-to bait.

The list of friends is long and my blog is short. Why not join us at the at Alabama Wildlife Federation headquarters? We couldn’t ask for a better site for the children’s fishing event and weigh-in. Day one weigh-in begins Friday the 19th at 4:00. The Alabama Champions will be crowned Saturday, the 20th at 4:00. Directions are at this link.
Come and see us!

Blessings-TJ
