Coy Sipes of Team Sipes

Coy Sipes of the Sipes Fishing Team

Happy New Year! We tend to reflect this time of year on past fishing trips and time spent with loved ones. This is also an opportunity to look ahead. How would you feel about looking forward with a rifle approach instead of a shotgun approach? If your answer is yes, please read on.

I attended a speech by Hyrum Smith of the Franklin Group back in 1988 and it has touched me every day since. Three things he said really hit home: “Goals are meaningless unless they are written down. An unwritten goal is just a thought. Goals not measured against your core values, may be the wrong goal.” Reflecting on Smith’s speech while driving home that night; I realized that every goal I’d had to age 30 was meaningless. That was a hard pill to swallow! Please give yourself the gift of solitude and write down what your values are and how your goals compare to them. Visit that page often throughout 2010 and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

If the future of fishing is important to you; please take a look at these organizations and join and/or donate:

Congratulations to Road Runner Team member, Coy Sipes. He made the cover of Crappie World’s winter issue. Coy and his partner Gil Sipes are past Crappiemasters Champs and have won numerous tournaments. They also bagged a second place finish in this year’s Crappie USA championship. We’re proud of them!

I’ll be at the Henry’s Show this next week and hope to see all of my dealer friends there. Please stop by and say hello.

Blessings and best wishes for a great 2010,

God bless you and your family. I have set some goals for this year both professionally and fishing wise. It is the first time I have set species specific fishing goals. Time to work on my “bucket list.”
