MattKent1st Steve Ronnie 2nd small fileI’ve just returned from the Crappiemasters Championship where Road Runner Anglers walked away with over $58,000 in cash and prizes. We’re so blessed to have such great team members that believe in our products. The Grenada Hampton Inn, City of Grenada, and the Grenada Army Corp of Engineers did a super job.

As if the fellowship of the Crappiemaster team and the anglers weren’t enough; John Felsher, Alan Clemons, Tim Huffman and Keith Sutton were on hand, covering the event.

I’ll leave the reporting to those aforementioned experts but here’s a brief synopsis…

Grenada, MS Road Runner lures help the teams win big at the 2009 Crappiemasters Classic.

First place went to the Road Runner team of Matt Morgan and Kent Watson of IN. They used a combination of Road Runners and Mid-south jigs to boat 28.32 pounds. The team will share two, fully rigged Tracker boats for their efforts.

The team also bagged the “2009 Largest Stringer” honors for their 31.60 weight at the Alabama River event last March.  This is a record for a two-day state championship which earned them a new 797 Hummingbird depth sounder.

The “Cinderella Story” of the Championship was the second-place finish of the famous Capps and Coleman team, after a 56th place finish on the first day. When conditions are tough, these guys get busy!

Angler team of the year was awarded to Vicious Line’s Jim and Barbara Reedy. They graciously thanked their sponsors; Vicious Line, B’n’M Poles and Road Runner Lures.

Another Road Runner angler won Sportsman of the Year honors; Bill Braswell thanked Crappiemasters and his main sponsor Gary Yamamoto.

Kudos to the Crappiemaster’s Team for another well-run,  family event.

Blessings to all,

-TJ

  1. Don Gasaway says:

Congrats to the Road Runner folks. I am curious, was there any record of the largest crappie taken?

  2. tj stallings says:

    Don,
I believe that was a 2.83 during the Grenada event.
The all-time CM record? I think that was a 3.43 also taken at Grenada. Blessings, -TJ
